Continuation of a legacy

On March 24, 2015, the legacy of Johnson Funeral Home gained new ownership and secured the continuation of the firm. Barrett Nelson and Danny Gill, lifelong residence of Lake Wales, purchased the business on the request of the late, Linda C. Johnson. Early in 2014, Linda wanted to retire from the business and obtain more time to focus on her passion for art. In the pursuit of retirement, she hired a broker to expedite this move by targeting the most obvious candidates, Barrett Nelson and Danny Gill. After many meetings to work out the details, an agreement was made that would allow Linda Johnson to paint while working on an at need basis at the funeral home. Unfortunately, Linda became deathly ill before the completion of the transaction and wasn’t able to see the fruits of her labor. Linda C. Johnson passed away on December 30, 2014. Both, William L. & Linda C. Johnson worked at the funeral home until their passing, serving the people of Lake Wales with a caring passion.

It is our sincere desire to continue the legacy and traditions of the Johnson’s by providing compassionate and caring services. We will always remember our past while looking to the future. It is our honor and privilege to selected to serve the families in our community.

Johnson Funeral Home is a Lake Wales Ridge Landmark Building. Photographer A.L. Alexander as his dream home built the rear structure in 1917. The front building was added prior to 1924 and served as a photographic studio and gift shop. A funeral home for over fifty-nine years, the property was completely restored in 1978. We are listed on the Historic Lake Wales Society Architecture Tour.
